What is especially enthralling is the almost theatrical setting for Palazzo Vecchio: Piazza della Signoria, the hub of Florence’s civil power. This ancient building is the best example of Florentine architecture from the 1300s. Palazzo Vecchio was designed by Arnolfo di Cambio in 1299, with later additions by Savonarola and Cosimo I de’ Medici.

The interior of Palazzo Vecchio is extremely interesting. The visit will begin with the inner Courtyard by Michelozzo and then on to the Hall of the Five Hundred (Salone dei 500), the Quarters of the Elements, the private apartments of the Medicis, which include the celebrated Chapel of Eleonora of Toledo, frescoed by Bronzino.
The tour will conclude with a visit to the Hall of the Lilies (Sala dei Gigli) and the Hall of Geographical Maps (Sala delle Carte Geografiche).
