Boboli gardens covers a vast area which the Medicis wanted as part of the grounds when they acquired Palazzo Pitti. Over the centuries, it has become an open-air museum. Giambologna sculpted his statue entitled Oceano (Ocean) for one of the fountains, Buontalenti created his famous Grotta (The Buontalenti Grotto), and the most illustrious artists of the time enjoyed building caverns, mazes, fountain displays and water features. By strolling through this unforgettable garden-museum we will be strolling across the history of Florence and its art between 1500 and 1800.
